Avoca Volunteer Fire Department Established in 1959
Engine 3 is a 1997 Pierce Saber that seats a crew of 6. It carries 1,000 gallons of water onboard, and is capable of pumping 1,250 gallons of water per minute when operating at full capacity. This Engine doubles as a Pumper/Tanker and has a quick-dump valve on the rear of the apparatus. The engine carries a portable folding drop-tank that holds 2,200 gallons of water. This allows the unit to drop the tank and water from the same engine without impacting firefighting operations. The engine can then travel to a hydrant to refill its tank and return to the scene without the initial engine ever losing its water supply.
